Due to the current Covid-19 infection situation in Upper Austria, we are forced to hold the YOUKI - International Youth Media Festival online. We are in a situation in which the political decision-makers are confronting us with unclear formulations, spontaneous press conferences without results and non-existent crisis management. We are expecting considerable restrictions in the event area, are observing the health situation with great concern and see no possibility of staging the festival as usual. We do not want to hold YOUKI without an audience, school classes, international guests and networking opportunities as well as health risks for our guests.

We are sad that young directors will have to do without the big screen and the well-deserved attention for another year and apologise to all filmmakers, guests, artists and school classes for the cancellation at short notice. We hope for better times and politicians and ask for your understanding.

We will try to make the best of the situation for the filmmakers. The international film competition will be broadcast live in its entirety on DORFTV and on demand in the KINO VOD CLUB (only in Austria). We will also be hosting an awards ceremony by the jury at an online gala on 20 November at 8pm. Furthermore, there will be an online animation workshop, an Instalive talk on "female* perspectives behind the camera" and also the Breakfast Club with Cinema Next on the internet.

All other social programmes and nightlines will be postponed to more pleasant times. We will try to fix dates for concerts, talks and screenings as soon as possible and keep you informed.
