Innovative Film Award – 800 Euro

Things That Won’t Die by Manuela Gutiérrez Arrieta
Spain 2022, 14:27 min.
Age Category 18 - 22 years

JURY STATEMENT:

A very brave, a very intimate film that reaches many people, especially in its personal approach. Because it tells the story of many. The filmmaker asks herself: What if she had dared to share her worries with others earlier? Would she then have had the strength to avoid abuses in time? Perhaps. It takes courage to open up to others about one's intimate world. But one will notice that it is precisely the personal that binds all worlds. And that silence often separates us more. It was perhaps the clearest jury decision because this film touches and it stays. We would have loved to see this film as teenagers, and we hope many teenagers will still see it.
