YOUKI is an international youth media festival and takes place annually in Wels (Austria) at the end of November.
At its core is the International Film Competition that presents about 90 films from all over the world. Furthermore, YOUKI serves as a platform for representatives of the film, media, and culture industry, and provides experimental spaces, media communication, concerts, as well as discursive events.
The International Film Competition shows shots films by young filmmakers up to the age of 27. Anually we receive around 3000 submissions from all over the world every year. A selection of around 90 films will be shown in the YOUKI competition program.
YOUKI is a vivid communication platform for the popularization of media culture. In essence, YOUKI may be described as comprehensive and passionate celebration of media. The festival's programme includes discussions on contemporary phenomena of youth, pop and media culture, exhibitions, readings, special screenings and the opportunity to meet renowned representatives of the film, media and cultural industries.
You don't just visit YOUKI, you become part of it. Participation is important to us, which is why there are various programmes to participate in and numerous offers for practical discussion in the field of media: workshops, educational programs for school classes or you can become part of the festival's own TV, radio and print editorial team.
Every evening the YOUKI Nightline offers concerts and party series and invites you to informal exchange and networking. The YOUKI stage sees itself as an opportunity for the young Austrian music scene.
